Did you try to boot to the "Last Known Good Configuration?" This is an option just after you select the OS to boot to in the boot menu. Select the line that says Last Known Good Configuration. hopefully this will allow you to boot. This is where the system saved the to teh registry the record of your last successful boot, which means you actually logged in because remember that you have not really booted into the OS until you actually log in.
You may also try to run the Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) if you made one. If so it will restore the registry with settings and users which were on the system at the time you made the ERD so be prepared for that.
God has been good to me.
