Hi all,
I have a corrupted Event Log file on one of our Winnt4 Server
which seems to have prevented the system from writing to
any of the logs (system, security, & application). When I
try to view the logs via Event Viewer, I get an error
message stating that the event file is corrupted, if I
click OK, it displays a blank screen.

An attempts to delete those files failed with error message
stating that other process is using it.
Is it is safe to delete all three log files (appevent.Evt,
Sysevent.Evt, & Secevent.Evt)and replace them with a
new/empty/clean file renamed accordingly. If so, could
someone please provide necessary guide lines.

Thanks in advance.

Try stopping the event log service in CONTROL PANEL>SERVICES. maybe that will let you delete the corrupted entries.

Hope this helps!
