Can anyone point me towards information on setting up WINS and DNS replication between an NT4 domain and a 2000 AD forest? If there's a quick and dirty explanation I'll take that too. Thanks.
Win2K WINS replicates fine with a NT4 WINS server... has been tested...
DNS : it's best to set up Win2K as primary DNS server, and use NT4 for secondary DNS...
Note : you can't manage NT4 WINS/DNS servers with Win2K MMC snapins and vice versa... !

Just make sure that your NT4 WINS server has the highest service pack running on it.
The added features in W2K (some of which might be included in a late NT service pack) are:
- a new built-in group on the W2k WINS server called "WINS USERS." Membership in that group allows read-only access to the WINS database. Good for giving support-desk people additional tools for discovering IP conflicts, etc.
- ability to delete individual records from the database immediately (came with NT SP4 too)
- Persistent connections between WINS servers (decreases database convergence times over faster WAN links and reduces the overhead of connection establishment).
- ability to export entire database to comma-delimited file. Don't plan on importing it though.
