Basically, I have a user who's NT roaming profile has grown to a rather large size. So we have tried to thin it down etc.. and it has definately shrunk.

But, a few weeks ago, the user shut his machine down, closed outlook etc, and the PC basically sat trying to save settings etc..

During this period, the network collapsed, no resources where available, the switches were flashing like Xmas lights, and it took me a good hour to work out what was happening.

Today, it did the same thing, but this time it actually took the switches out as well, and I had to completly cold boot the entire system, switches and all.

Is it possible that its a corrupt profile, and if so what can I do about it. It doesn't always do this though, which is why I am a bit hesitant..

Cheers in advance..

Andy

Andy,

I think it would be worth backing up the profile, then deleting & re-creating it. Unless its a user with alot of admin priveledges it would be the 1st action i would take.

Out of interest,
1/ What size is the particular users profile?
2/ How much free space is on the HD on the server where the profile is normal kept?

The users profile is now 134Mb, and there is 3.1 Gb free on the C drive, and 4.1 Gb free on the E drive, where the information store is.

I am off for a while now, until next year in fact, so if I don't reply to any posts, it not because I don't care!!

Cheers in advance,

Andy
