Any one tried to migrate windows NT client PC to 2003 domain? I tried to migrate xp and 2000 pc successfully after lot of research and try. When I try to do NT pc it's not working like XP and 2000. It's not copying profiles. May be I am doing something wrong.

Any help on this?

You have to make sure that the NT PC has the latest service pack.. and that the domain admins are local admins of the pc. try and use the ADMT to migrate it.. If your NT machine has SP4 or less you need to apply sp6a or dsclient

I am sure it has servicepack 4. do I need dsclient for NT machine. I am not sure but, I though we just need dsclient for windows 95 and 98.

dsclient is not necessary to be a domain member.. it just gives extra domain functionality.

what do you mean by ' It's not copying profiles. ' ?

Do users have roaming profiles?

I was talking about all profiles on that PC for different user who logged on it before.
when I use to migrate xp client computer to 2003 domain from NT it use to copy all profiles (almost everything)like desktop, quicklaunch etc. when I did same thing for NT it just migrated computer account to 2003 domain successfully but,didnt copy profiles.

1.you can simply rename the folder to resemble the new user name and modify the permissions on the folder;

-or-

2.they open a session, a new empty profile is created, they then close the session...
then you do a copy/paste from their old profile to the new one. make sure 'show hidden files...' is ticked.

Good luck
