If I remember rightly IBM Laptops require their own PCMCIA.SYS supplied with a utility called "SystemSoft" Although the PCMCIA will work with MS's system file it can prodduce some really odd results and at the strangest times. Can I siggest maybe try downloading the latet SystemSoft from IBM and install that, again if I remember rightly, the new file in System Soft is alot smaller than the MS version, also when you next apply maintenance you need to keep a copy of the SystemSoft file to copy back into your system overwriting the one from MS. I get blue screens if I leave my PCMCIA network card in on my IBM laptop if I dont follow this process.
1. Apply maintenace
2. (before rebooting) copy old SystemSoft .sys into /system32
3. Reboot
(if I still get a bluescreen, then I assume NT has "fixed" the non-NT file and recovered its own one, I then remove my network card, reboot, recopy the IBM pcmicia.sys and reboot adding my card back in again)
Its a pain but it works for me.
