Hello. We run a mixed mode network Win2k, WinNT4.0. Clients are XP and NT. We turned off WINS, but are still using DNS. The NT clients have NetBIOS enabled over TCP/IP in their configs. All the NT clients, no matter where in the environment they are, all receive the error "a slow network connection has been detected, would you like to download your roaming profile or use your local?". All have good working 3com nics and the network connections are fine (cat5 cabling, 100 mbs). Does anyone have a clue if they give this error due to not being able to resolve the name of the PDC emulator or is it another problem?
Thanks in advance,
Brian

have you by any chance selected the "low speed connection" in user manager?

We use Active Directory Users and Computers, not User Manager, so I'm not sure there is a similar item like that, but thanks for the suggestion.

Do the NT clients have "Enable DNS for Windows Resolution" selected and the domain's DNS servers configured as their DNS servers?

Thanks everyone for your help! We did NOT have the enable DNS checked on these NT boxes (although we thought we had!!) and we also had some WINS address in there that no longer existed (even though we thought we cleared them out!!). I appreciate everyone's input!!!
Brian
