NT 4.0 SERVER NETWORK PROBLEMS WITH XP PRO

We have a small office with a Windows NT 4.0 Server acting as a PDC and also 5 Windows XP Professional Workstations. From time to time the Windows XP workstation computers can not logon to the server which is just a file server. It gives them this message access is denied. Any thoughts?
