Current Setup:
NT 4.0 Server
100 Win/98 Clients

Desired Setup:
W2K Server
100 W98 clients
NT 4.0 Server (Remove from Domain)

I have a NT 4.0 server that I wish to upgrade to a new W2K server. Both servers are on separate boxes and there is no space on the C drive under NT 4. My question is this: How do I remove the NT 4.0 server intact and force logins and Network access through the new W2K Server?

Backup NT box, demote to BDC. Bring in new box, install NT, sync with old box, upgrade to W2K. There are people out there that have a lot more NT knowledge than I have, so wait for other replies. Might be a better solution. Good luck. Glen A. Johnson

Can't improve on that. And I've done it that way more than once.

1 - Install new server as NT4 BDC (make C drive 4096mb)
2 - Promote new server to PDC (thus demoting old server)
3 - Upgrade new server to 2000
4 - Complete dcpromo (will run automatically)
5 - Migrate data from old server to new server
6 - Turn off old server until new domain proved stable

Hope this helps.

I think c partation should bigger than 4G, if you have lots of space, best way to set it to 8G
