Dear Experts;

I have finished with the installation of the DNS server, moreover I am facing a problem with the client, when you do a nslookup on the server it works fine, but when you do a nslookup on the client it can not see the server at all.
I have confisured the following possible files:
nsswitch.conf
resolv.conf
named.conf
named.cache
named.local
named.mydomain
named.mydomain.rev

Is there any file that needs to be edited for the server to send kind of a broadcast?

Please advice me on what else to do in this urgent matter.

Thank you,
vut

If the client is using NIS the file /etc/resolv.conf on the NIS server must have the DNS server information. In /var/yp, the makefile must be must be modified. There is a variable "-B" that needs to be enabled.. The makefile should have an a comment section on what to do do enable DNS.

Dear bfitzmai;

Unfortunately it does not work, any other suggestions?

Thank you,
vut

Now that I am at work, I also see nslookup does not work on a client but works on my NIS Server. Are we chasing our tails?

I have verified DNS is working on the client by using ping <workstation.domain>. The workstation is not in my local host table so DNS is working.
