Aynone ever get files created on the hard drive in the format like this?

NP20031201.stat
or
NP20031201.log

It is the date they are created. I open them and all that is in the file is garbage. I am not sure what program is creating them. Any clues?

Thanks....

The number part refers to the date they were created. The NP probably points towards the program that created them...any norton software on the machine of software with NP as initials?
Havent come across then before so hopefully what I have said will lead u in the right direction.
Let me know how u get on

Yes, I do have Norton system works 2003. I do have norton protect turned off, I too thought it could be norton. The only thing is I have never seen these file until 2 days ago. They are being written in the root direct of each drive at different times. Just weird.......

I still thing its something to do with NOrton, It might be worth doing a search on their site.
Good luck.
