Recently uninstalled/reinstalled BE 8.5, 8.6. Now, whenever opening backup exec, get message: "There are two administrators logged into the media server. Another administrator may be making changes." Also, whenever this occurs, can't get tools|notification setup to open. Just sits and hourglasses. No error message and no "not responding" in task manager. Any fixes and/or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Robert

hi

i get the same message "There are two administrators logged into the media server" when logging in. I always thought it was because i use terminal services. anyway - i dont have a problem wiht my notifications - so i dont think that error has anything to do with it. have you tried reinstalling exchange admin?

cheers

Stop all backupexec services. Delete the following key from the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/VERITAS/ALERT SERVER/CONFIGURED EVENTS. Restart services and reconfigure your notification setup.

Without dispelling darth4817 suggestion it sounds a little drastic and I doubt will help ou set up notification. You need to be logged in as the Backup Exec service account to set up notification, try looking at the following article

Cheers

Check the services. See which account is logging in for Backup Exec. Log off the server and log on as that account. Go to control panel mail and ensure the mail profile is set up for that person.

I faced the exact same issue of backup exec locking up and the message "There are two administrators logged into the media server. Another administrator may be making changes." After deleting the key and reconfiguring notification properties the message no longer appears. The deleted key is recreated after you reconfigure the notification setup. See the following article.

I'm having problems setting up email notification. Steps so far - setup outlook profile\mailbox with svc acc details. logged on with svc acc, confirmed mail profile fine, opened BE (get 2 admin msg) try to setup email notification but can't log into email.
