nothing appears when booting

I have two PCs I am working on and both are haveing the same problem. One is runnig XP the other 2K. When they are booted, nothing appears on the screen. The CPU is on and I cannot hot boot the computer. I have to unplug the cpu and plug it back up and everything works fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
