Not sure of version / How to import?

Hi. A friends PC just crashed. They have been running this Presario 2256 on W98 for 5+ years. (!) W98, Office 95... I was unable to boot the system so copied all data to CD's.

I've found the folder they had their email in, however I am uncertain what version of Outlook or OE they were using. The files are named inbox.mbx , inbox.idx... Sent Items.mbx/idx, etc.

I've put W98SE back on, and have updated the system at Microsofts update site, which installed OE 6, however I can not import the old messages to the redone OE.

Could anyone point me in the proper direction?

Try the link below. You will find directions for the last three version of OE and the directions. I am guessing it was OE4 they had.
