Not sure if this is some sort of email virus.

I have two users that get a couple emails a day from people they don't know. The emails from these people are telling my users to stop sending them messages and sometimes they tell my users that their computer detected a virus that was sent by my user.

I've scanned my users computers with McAfee's stinger.exe and did not find any of the viruses it scans for. The computers images are only a few months old and they are always up to date with the latest Norton AV deffinition files. I also scanned the computers with Norton being it is the installed AV and it found nothing.

Any ideas as to why a couple of my users are getting these emails from people they don't know?

Most likely their email address is in the address book of someone else who has been hit by a virus or trojan that spoofs the return address with someone elses address when it replicates itself.

Hard to find the problem since almost anyone can have their address.

That is really the only explaination I could come up with myself. Thanks for the reasurance.
