Hello. I have setup my Trial version of MS Exchange 2003. It seems to be working great within my own domain...that is, it'll send to other users within the same domain; however, it won't send out to other email address outside the domain. (All my computers I've tested it on are within the private IP range of the domain. The router is setup to forward ports 110 and 25 to the email server.)

This is the error message I get when trying to send to an outside email account:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test
Sent: 10/31/2004 8:51 AM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'an_email_address@hotmail.com' on 10/31/2004 8:51 AM
550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for an_email_address@hotmail.com

Does anyone know what I set wrong / how I can fix this?

5.7.1. is: permanent failure (5), delivery not authorized, message refused

Hmm, except it is authorized. It's on the same computer as Active Directory; the user is registered and authorized. Is there some setting you know of that can let Exchange Server know they're authorized to send? And if they're not authorized, how come it still lets them send mail between themselves within the domain?

To be honest rick26, that post didn't help me all that much / wasn't very informative. I did already know it was an error, and that the connection / message was being refused. I'm trying to figure out why, and what's more, how to fix the problem. [sadeyes]

Anyone?? I can receive emails now that the registrar's MX pointer has propegated through the internet. So, to re-cap, I can send and receive within the domain (that is, from anyone@swiftvision.net to someone.else@swiftvision.net), and can now receive emails from anyone on the internet to my emails.

I just cannot send emails out to anyone outside of this domain. I'm guessing it's something with SMTP, but I just don't know what I did wrong.
