Not able to search with text box

I created a form for users to search by year and linked to a subform in which the data is gathered from a query. My problem is that i am not able to enter a year into my year search box. All i get is angry dings. I've checked everything on both the main form and the subform to make sure nothing was locked. Not quite sure what to do. Any suggestions would be super awesome!

What is the ControlSource of your textbox?

The text box is controlled by a table, while the sub is controlled by a query.

Create a ComboBox and Choose the Third option from the wizard. You will be able to search by that field
