I have a machine which I would like to install MS Advance Server OS. After Fidsk the harddrive and format the partition, I install Advance Server OS. The OS loaded with out any problem.

Computer is not on a domain. New setup. Follow the default wizard to install AD and this is where I have come into a problem. Input all required field, make this a new domain, etc... and then comes the summary page, to check all input are what we need, then press the next button and a popup menu comes up. It says "Active Directory installation failed" the message is : "Network location cannot be reach. go to help menu to troubleshoot...."

The computer is not connected to any network. I am trying to set up this computer to be the Domain Controller and then connect to my new home network.

Any help here is really appreciated.

Thanks
Boon

try first installing the server connected to your network. I think it happened to my one time, doing the same you'r doing, and i think i solved the problem by just plugging the server to the network..
good luck!!!

Keep fighting for your knowledge!

As stated by Koquito plug into either your network, a hub, or even install a loopback adaptor. AD needs to communicate with another machine or the semblance of one to verify that a duplicate Domain name does not exist.

Koquito and futuretech204,

Thank you guys for all your help. Now I am able to setup my server and AD. DOMO ARIGATO.

I am having the same problem, but I am trying to make a domain controller. I have it connected by a hub to one computer. If it needs to connect to a machine, should I set the other computers IP to 10.10.1.2 so it can connect? How can I install a loopback adpater? The other computer has the IP of 192.168.2.5.
