While saving the Quark document, QuarkXpress crashed. Now when I try to open the file, I receive the error message "This file is not a valid QuarkXpress file (or has an incorrect extention). [9]".

If anyone can help (will pay to have it fixed). I am operating on a PC platform.

MarkX tools appears to only be MAC-based?

Sorry but if quark crashed when saving the file, then you only hope is to try and find something like Marks Tools for the PC. If you can't fix it in 20 call someone who can.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I had to recreate the entire 32 page file but I've learned my lesson, always backup a copy (or more) elsewhere when working with large format files.

Actually I don't use the auto backup feature due to confusion with revision numbers and our companies own revision numbering system.

ie. file01 -> backup file through quark file011
We might also have a file011. This generates confusion when trying to find the right file.

Also, we are constantly fighting a space issue on the server.

When working on larger projects, I will in the future be using this feature! It's worth a little bit of confusion to have the backup copy(s) available when necessary.

Using autobackups can save you - you keep them locally so you don't get confused and put them in a folder inside the Quark app folder so no one sees them until they need to.

Actually
I got this same message come up too when I created a quark document with quarkxpress v.5.0b and
then tried to read it back with v.4.11r0

Don't understand why, but it has lost me some valuable time
