I have Norton SystemWorks 2005 on my Windows XP SP2 PC. When I do an Analyze on any drive, it seems to stop at about 99% and it could take anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes to finish the analyze and show me the results. I ran the task manager and looked at CPU and for non-responsive apps. The duel CPU (Intel P4 @ 3GHz) shows as 50 to 55% of utilization - one side high and one side low.
Here's the thing, this did not happen, the delay, until I decided that I wanted to degrag my MFT and page files at boot time. I installed and ran a trial of Diskeeper to do this and completely de-installed it after the trial. I did not have any issues running the Diskeeper program and not with Speed Disk before the Diskeeper install. Can anyone shed some light on this?
I did note the the hang at 99% analyze was shorter on my C: & E: drives than on my F:, G:, H:, & I: drives. It could be due to the early letters being 16GB partitions and the others 32GB partitions. My HDD is an SATA 160GB drive. Thank you. OldPCKen
