I have run into a Vantage 12 in the field and they want to add lines!! I have no idea how to do this!(I was told it was close to a Norstar..it isnt close!) I guess if somone can tell me if the Vantage supports more than 3 lines, how to program the thing,(I figured it supports 12 extensions, but does it have voice mail capabilities)?? Any help would be appreciated...And in return I can help with a Norstar/BCM question?

I haven't seen one of those in 20 years. It was the first EKT I encountered. I chucked all my old manuals. I can't remember if it maxed out at 3 lines or not.

WOW, I thought I was the only one managing this antique.
We have a 24/48 Vantage, that won't stop working. Have thought about pouring oil over it, but owner would probably blame me. Did have a little smoke rising one time, but I was foolish enough to pull the plug, instead of letting it break into a full fire.
Anycase, I do have a source for parts and refurbed phones on this beast. Instuctions are available as well.
How many telco lines do they have now? Haven't worked with a 12, what's it capacity? If it needs parts, the cards are pretty cheap, about $100 each. If it's like a 24/48, you may need two cards.
I am sure my source would be able to upgrade to a 24/48, if they really wanted to, and supply any parts for the 12. I do not have a financial interest or stake in the company.
Hmmm, make sure you have the battery switch on, before you disconnect the power. Probably is already on, otherwise they would be talking about reprogramming the beast with every power outage.

Whoops, sorry, didn't see the question regarding voice mail. Not a chance, unless you do something external to the Vantage.
Also, as far as I know, any tip/ring lines require a special card. Not like a Partner where you can plug in a plane jane phone, and make it work.

If it's a vantage12, and if my memory serves me (because you certainly have a boat anchor there) the CO cards supported circuits each as did the station cards. The programming on the V12 was entirely done with DIP switches. Speed dialling was done with a special card.
Voicemail does not exist in V12's world, so you're limited to direct CO connected answering devices.
Set ringing was controlled bt DIP switches under the desi on the set. (near the volume control slider) The first 6 switches (left to right) controlled ringing. I believe the rightmost switch was a 10db receiver boost for hearing aid compatibility.
Unless there is absolutely no other option, I would not install the thing. Heck, you can buy a used Norstar or Panasonic for not a lot of cash and have a much better system. At least the you would has several possibilities for integrated voicemail.
