Nortel StarTalk Flash 4 wiring to M8x24-DS 1

How do I wire up a Flash 4 voice mail system to the 8x24 stations? I want to use the full 4 simultaneous calls functionality. One tech has said it uses 2 station lines, another said, no, for full capacity, you must connect it to 4 station lines with 2 (qty) x 4-wire phone lines -- each phone line carrying 2 stations (1=red/green, 2=yellow/black on standard phone wire). Also, which station lines (of the 24)should be connected to the Flash 4 system? What programming needs to be done for the 8x24 to recognize the Flash 4 system?

you wire a station port to each port on the flash usually try to use a port towards the bottom like 123-124 u only need two not four.

Thanks. A couple more quick questions, does the Flash 4 allow for 4 simultaneous calls, and if so, how does it allow 4 simultaneous calls on 2 stations? What is the Feature code to show the stations that are connected to the Flash 4?

You can wire 2 station ports to each port of the Flash. Easiest way to test is to have 4 people use F981 at the same time to if they all get into voice mail.

Flash 4 allows 4 simultaneous operations (incoming call answering, programming session, voice mail retrieval,...). It can do it on two stations as each station is basically BRI; two B-channels per one circuit. 'Feature' 985 will give you the pilot DN for mail; installer password is required to see 'Maintenance' programming (where you would see B1 and B2 channels for each port connected to mail).
