Hi all, I have an IP 500V2, 8.1.43. I am having trouble assigning the buttons I want on the phone, the phone appears to assign default buttons and ignores what I have programmed in Manager for the button assignment. How can I fix this so no default buttons are programmed on the nortel phones(T7316e and T7208)?? The programming in Manager doesn't even overwrite the default buttons on the phone?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Add the following shortcode to all users associated with Nortel phones:

*DCP/Dial/8xxxxxxx, 0, 1, 1, 0/0

For system's with TCM phone ports, when a phone is first connected to the port, the button programming of the associated user is overwritten with the default button programming appropriate for the phone model. Adding the above short code prevents that behavior if not required, for example if a pre-built configuration including user button programming is added to the system before the connection of phones :)

So 8xxxxxxx, 0, 1, 1, 0/0 is the Action string of the shortcode??

Thanks.

Code *DCP
Feature Dial
Tel number 8xxxxxxx, 0, 1, 1, 0
Line gp 0

Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't work....

i have my users programmed, with the assigned buttons they wanted.

when i plug in a nortel phone, log in as the desired user, default buttons for the nortel phone appear

when i open a config, the buttons i had programmed have been overwritten by the nortel defaults...

at this point I could reprogram the buttons and they will take the programming, the problem is I have 40 phones and everyone has different buttons, there has got to be a way to preprogram these buttons so that when you plug in the phone the buttons appear as you programmed them, not having manager overwrite your programming and assign it's own buttons...

Well that's straight from the Manager help files, so raise a case with Avaya that it isn't working :)

make sure you have the code in the users shortcode list and not assigned via user rights as I had problems with them taking it then

Copy the values to the users instead of applying the user rights, this does as Westi mentioned but in one go :)
