I have tried without success to navigate Nortel's website from hell to find "Nortel PCMCIA Card Programmer V.9" in order to format correctly a PCMCIA card to backup my MIRAN III data - does anyone have a link to the file so I can download.

you go to nortel.com
from there go to Support&trining/ Technical Support/ software download
Go to products a-z
pick M and go Meridian 1 OPC11 and click on tools and in the next page you will find the software

Thanks for this, I got this far recently but sadly my access was DENIED..... I have asked Nortel to allow access but through bitter experience in such matters I known that I will now have a long wait....! I need this emailed if possible or a link???

bungy43uk....what is on the PCMIA card that you want to format.i think what you need to do is delete whats on it
and not formatting the pcmia i was told that will make the
pcmia card not function properly.

Ultimately I need to replace the current royalty free Music On Hold with a company announement. Id like to take a backup first - precautionary - of the current config but to do this I need to insert a PCMCIA card in drive A of the Miran. The Miran wont recognise my PCMCIA Flash card (64mb)I have cleared all files off the Flash card and formatted using FAT 16 which im told is the correct way forward. Still however the MIRAN returns the error "A drive unavailable..." or something to that effect. Im told subsequently that I need to use this Programmer tool from Nortel in order to format the PCMCIA card to be recognised by the MIRAN....I am currently waiting for Nortel to grant access so I can download the tool....

bungy43uk...i have been told not to format pcmia

that i have no issues what so ever i dont think formatting
the pcmia will work let me know.

bungy43uk...if you have windows 98 on your labtop you can
format the pcmia card and the miran card will be able to
see the card and you should be able to do what you need
to.hope this helps...

If you have a flash card reader on your Laptop you can take out the Miran Flash card and copy all the files to your computer and you will have your back up, and then copy the new music file to the Miran flash card.
Install it and from the Miran installation menu put it to work.

for me is the easiest way but you have to get your Miran out of service for a few minutes.

Thanks again for the advice - I confirm there are NO files on the flash card but MIRAN doesnt recognise it. I dont have access to Win 98 either although I have formatted the card using FAT (Presumably FAT 16).

Still need the tool I think?

marc3lo,

This is one option that I hadnt thought of - sadly however we are a 24 hour operation and would need to seek authority to take the card down for a while - possible though and worth thinking about - thanks.

bungy43uk...if you formatted the pcmcia card with any
other operating system other than windows98 your card
will not work on a nortel product.you should always
delete the files not format.they have a program called
cardpro that will format a pcmcia card with no problems
what so ever i wish you could find someone with windows98
on a labtop..

Thanks mate - I have an old Lappy at home with cracked screen but can re-install with 98 and hopefully reformat the card - boy NORTEL dont make these things easy do they???

bungy43uk...well did you get windows 98 and could you format
pcmcia card ?

Mate, I tried with my home Laptop but had 2000 pro on - had an old copy of 98 but found my son had used it and scratched the CD so its useless....!! I did however manage to optain a copy of Nortel PCMCIA Programmer V9 - AND, GUESS WHAT.....it didnt work! Oh deepest joy. Im giving up with the backup for now and just going ahead with the import of a new music file - hopefully this wont affect the existing MOH and instead create a separate file so I can apply accordingly - if its no good then Im hoping I can simply find the original MOH and re-apply...?

I'v had issues with this when using a PCMCIA card other then a Scan Disk.

Yea, I have ordered a SANDISK for this purpose now. BUT...I have managed to get the new music file onto the MIRAN card - in the end I plugged a Jack to Jack lead from my lappy into the Silver adaptor and "recorded from external source" - I had to change the file extension from .WAV to .ULW manually as the conversion routine failed
but this worked a treat when I applied to Channel 0 and sound quality is file now that it is recorded in 8khz .WAV format.
