Hello,
I am avble to get the soft phone to work once after a new install, and then it goes to a prompt that says "Forwarding..." how can I fix this?

Anyone have any dieas?

Thank you!

Kyle

Forwarding" appears few seconds when the set is connecting to server for registering. If display doesn't change, check if the TN still exist in your system. Are you on the same LAN as Server ? If no, try to move your PC to that LAN and check again

Hi Dlesap,

Thank you for your post. It stays with that screen saying "Forwarding...". I am on the same Lan as the server.

Any ideas on how to trouble-shoot this?

Thank you!

Kyle

Is it the only Softphone with that problem?
Is the TN exist in your PBX?
Is it enable?(may be no impact)

-The softphone is the only problem... the "physical" phone is not a problem at all.
-The TN does exist, and it is enabled
-We tested this on another computer and it worked fine
-We reformatted this computer and reinstalled the i2050 software

Still have same problem... woprks onc (I can place a call), then next time you fire up the i2050 software, it goes right to "Forwarding..."

Any more ideas?

Thank you!

Kyle

Uh..uh..
So PBX is not the problem. Check the services on your PC when ot works the first time. Then check again afterward when it fails. Take care that services have to go down automatically after 10 sec. Don't try to start it again during these 10 sec.

If you find the service, please POST!
I have the same exact problem with my i2050.
I've completely killed the anti-virus.
Completely uninstalled (including registry settings defining the Media Gateway Card) and re-installed.
I can't even get it to come up after the fresh install anymore.
Definitely not network related, i2004 set on same drop comes up fine.
Tried killing services, still couldn't get it to work.
Defined it as exemption in firewall (even though Windows firewall is turned off).
Other user can define my TN on his i2050 and his works. We are on the same model laptop, with same OS.
Still 'playing' around with it...

By the way, in the 12050 Diag utility, it indicates that the "Special Server Switch" ends the session with a reason of "Watchdog expired.

dlesap,
any more thoughts? Or anyone else for that matter?
Thank you!
Kyle

Kyle...
It appears to be a device driver conflict. Unfortunately, there is not going to be any 'standard' fix for this, because the device causing the conflict can be anything.

When troubleshooting, here are a couple things to try:
Is there another workstation where the i2050 works? If so, then try comparing tasks that are running and/or applications that are installed.

Has the i2050 ever worked? If so, then what has been installed since the i2050 stopped working?

In either case - look for an application on the workstation that uses either a WIRELESS driver, or an AUDIO driver. Then, try uninstalling that app, then the i2050, then re-install the i2050.

(I found my culprit - a Cingular wireless card/application)
Best of luck,
Scott

Was out to day...
As Slackliner says, when the problem is on PC, it can be many causes...Follow what Slackliner says... that's the best way to find the solution

Hey Slackliner,

That makes sense... I have a Sprint wireless card... sound slike a failry major bug seeing as everyone is getting those now.

What did you do to fix this? I mean long-term... I will try uninstalling the software, but that is just to make sure of the culprit... what dhave you done to help them co-exist successfully?

Kyle

What did I do long term?
To be honest - nothing. At least nothing successfully (yet).

In my case of the wireless card, it does not seem to be the aircard itself, nor its firmware that is causing the issue. It seems to be Cingular's Communication Manager software.

As long as the software is not on the laptop, the i2050 works fine (even with the system recongnizing the sierra aircard and leaving it enabled).
But once the Communication Manager software gets installed - BAM! - i2050 'Forwarding'.

So, I've looked in Windows' Task Manager, as well as Windows' Services Utility, for services running that could be Cingular's, but have not been able to find a service that, when stopped, enables the i2050.

According to Cingular's website, I have the latest version of the Communication Software.
So, there is nothing I personally can do on the laptop at this point. I will be calling Cingular to ask their technical support if they can design a patch that allows their product to work with Nortel's... but do you think that will happen? We'll see...

In the meantime, if you are stuck in a position of supporting the i2050, you can claim that they have to remove their Sprint wireless software; otherwise the i2050 is not compatible/supported.

Found it! The conflict that is... At least on my end.

In Cingular's Communication Manager Software, there is an embedded client which is used to 'accelerate' the flow of data (used esp. for pictures). The embedded client is called "ByteMobileAccelerationClient", which can be uninstalled from Cingular's Communication Manager:
Tools:
Settings:
Acceleration:
Client - ByteMobileAccelerationClient UNINSTALL

My i2050 works with the wireless card now.

Try calling Sprint's technical support and seeing if they can offer any alternatives to their software to resolve conflicts.

You may be able to uninstall Sprint's software, and then just create a generic dial-up account using a Windows Dial-up Networking profile. (you'll need login & password info to get onto Sprint's network)

Good luck!
