Nortel Call Pilot Unified Messaging -- has anyone gotten this to work?

While I am very familiar with Nortel and CP, but its Unified Messaging is now a client requirement and it is new to me. There are a few install problems:

Has anyone really gotten Nortel Unified Messaging to work?

Are you happy with it?

I know that Meridian has a much more advanced Call Pilot and has a dedicated forum here. But it seems to be a very different animal (and much more complex).

Web searches for tech support on CP UM have not been productive. That is a surprise to me. I would expect this to be not problematic.

Does the lack of tech support mean that no one really uses it?

Any thoughts you all have would be appreciated!

follow istall docs and works fine...do you have keycodes installed??
 
Thanks! Yup, keycodes are installed. The install docs do seem straightforward.

First, the CP is version 3.1 and for test and setup I use my laptop (XP with MS 2003 Outlook). There is no local email server. I can browse to the CP, so the CP is on the network and vm is working OK.

The docs seem to require only the install of Desktop Messaging (2.5) on the user PC. During my install it gives an error message saying a file could not be installed but then says the install was successful (huh?).

The CP application Call Pilot Player is now installed but the Player does not show any user vm messages. I realize that the Player has IP and extension number settings and I verified that those are correct.

The CP does not seem to provide for users' email address entry , so I presume that users need to access the CP as an email server. Correct?
