Hi everybody, has anyone here connected a Norstar ICS 0x32 to a Callegra Voice Mail system?. Does anyone know how to read the scripts in hexadecimal that this system uses for transfer?. I have a problem, a customer of us updated his system from a DR3 to a MICS 7.0. Everything is OK, except the Voice Mail system. It uses digital station ports to get connected to the Norstar system, and it is recognized as a M7310 type of telephone. The problem we have comes when a call is being transfered from the Auto Attendant. I mean, the four ports used by the Voice Mail system answer the incoming calls, then, when you dial your party's extension, the call is dropped.

Any idea? Thanks in advance.

Nortel voice mail systems are the only systems I know of that are designed to interface seamlessly with Nortel phone systems. Why use anything else?

Telling us that in your limited experience you have never seen any other voice mail attached to a Nortel Phone system doesn't help anyone Phonehed.

Did it work prior to the upgrade?

Yes it worked fine. And I think that the script for call transfer is the key to solve the problem. I have programmed Panasonic Voice Mail connected to Samsung or Telrad systems, and the sequences for call transfer are relatively easy to program. I think that, even with the Norstar it could be asy if the station ports used by the Callegra were analog instead of digital. Somehow I could tell the system that the call transfer sequence is Flash + DN, but with the digital station I don't know how to "say this". But the Callegra seems to have some pre-configured profiles for some PBX types and from different manufacturers. So, if I had an Installation or Programming guide for this equipment it would be great. I'm sorry because at this moment I don't have the precise model of the Voice Mail in question. Hope to have it for the next days. Thanks for your help!.

Well, I guess I was kind of a late bloomer because I didn't actually start working on Norstars until 1990 so I've definitely seen quite a few different voice mail systems interfaced with Norstar.

I have yet to see one that offered a true seamless and/or trouble free interface like Nortels systems do though so I'm not at all surprised that he's having trouble.

If anyone knows of such a system, I'd be real interested in hearing about it.

He might find more some more experienced help in a Callegra forum.

For those of you who may have missed the real point there entirely, if you want your customers to be satisfied with their voice mail systems, let 'em know right up front that mixing brands like that seldom offers a truly seamless and dependable interface.

Gotta agree with Phonehed, tried Octel, Call Express, nothing works better than pure Nortel!
