Norstar memory question

Been a while since I dealt with this but here is the question.
Where does the database reside on the MICS and 824?

Depends on MICS version.
MICS pre 4.0 it is stored in the software module. 4.x and higher it jointly held in the module and the flash card.

Modular system; has a split software module. The front half contains the OS, the back half the DB.

So on a MICS 4.1 and higher you can pull the software cartridge and plug it into a new cabinet and retain the database?

Yes, except for any keys and the sys ID will change. So if it's PRI you would have to recover the keycode.

Also hardware must be identical (expansion cards etc).

curlycord, I'm sure the CICS is also on the KSU. When I upgrade a CICS from 6.1 to 7.1 the programming is retained.
