Have a Norstar 0x32 with 2 each - 6 port fiber expansion cards
with several 12x0 trunk modules not being used due to T1 trunks are being used for incoming outgoing calls.
customer wants to remove 12x0 and add 0x16 station mods
how many 0x16 station mods can be added and what ports can be used ?
I think the 2 top ports are for 12x0 trunk mods.
only ?
Also when removing 12x0 and installing 0x16 mods
can they be hot swapped or do I need to power down system.

Depending on software level the top 2 on the left are reserved for companion use.
Normaly you would start trunks at top and stations at bottom but it does not matter.

You can hot swap mods if replacing for same, but to change type I cannot remember so wait for others to reply.
Need to watch out for downgrading or loose key code for PRI.

Go into hard ware and change it there. If you have 7.0/7.1 s/w you can use slots 11 and 12.

It has been couple of years I have worked with a Norstar. Those days you will require an XC S/w (Extended)cartridge to use 2x6port fiber cards. Also combination of 10 modules (either station module and trunk module)were allowed. The two were dedicated for companion.I am not sure of teh recent s/w versions.

Confirm cook's post. Those last 2 ports were freed up with 7.0, after the companion was disco'd.
