Hi good people. Another problem has hit my system. [Do they ever work for long without problems
OK the HP9100 series Cd writer on my system has suddenly become very noisy. I havent knocked it or anything that may have caused it to be out of alignment so I dont know why this has happened.
Any Ideas?
It seems to work OK. and is only about 18 months old and doesnt get used that much.

HI people You wont believe this but I put another disc in just now and LO and behold it works fine, no noise except a gentle whirr.!!!!!!
LOL

Usually press-it labling kits where the label's are not quite in the centre!!!
Makes an unballanced disc and a very noisey drive.
I have a local library that insists on putting it's identification logo and number on all there loan disc's with an oblong 30x20mm sticker, I have told them that it caurses bad cd rom vibration and possible damage but they just don't listen!!!!!!! Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!

Paparazi, Hi I dont know what the original problem was MY cd's dont have stickers of any sort though I did buy a labelling kit I never managed to produce a label to go on them. Probably lucky for me that I didnt.
Thanks anyway and the problem seems to have cured itself at least for the moment.
Regards
