Noises from my phone system

I bought a used phone system. Is it normal that the main unit makes sounds (clicks and tiks) when we receive or make outgoing calls? Just want to make sure that it is not a defective unit.

Sounds like the relays on the line cards, totaly normal. if you don't like the noise, you can go to global line cards, there are no relays on them.

Also, make sure your lines are set to TONE, not Pulse.
You will get a lot less clicking, and faster calling.
