After uninstalling a program (stylexp), the typical blue welcome screen of windows xp didn't appear. Instead, a little window appeared, the logon window, asking me to type the password for the owner account. I believe this happened in windows 98 when in networks, you changed the different log-on options like family logon, microsoft logon, etc. This is the screen I get when I shut down windows, the old little window with the 3 buttons (standby, shut down, and restart) didn't appear anymore.
Anyway, I wanted to start up windows like it always did, I turned on the computer and windows started. So I found this resolution:
Configure for Auto-Logon
If you are the only person using the computer and what to have it automatically log you on,
1. Start / Run / "control userpasswords2" - no quotes
2. Uncheck User must enter a user name and password to use this computer
And it works, however, I don't get the blue welcome screen, but rather the little logon windows loading my settings automatically. Now, when I press ALT+CTRL+DELETE to bring up the task manager, I get this "windows security" window that has the following buttons: shutdown, logoff..., task manager, etc etc.. I just want it to bring forth the task manager.
How can I get my old settings back? I don't want any logon window nor that windows security one, just the ask manager! argh!! Thanks!
