Got a strange problem on one Windows 200o Pro box. You can't do any ind of web browsing, with any browser.

Email works, IM works..DNS resolutionj has been verified with basic tools like ping.....

But for some odd reason, you can't open any pages...it sits and spins...doesn;t matter hwat browser you use..IE, NEtscpae, Mozilla, Opera....so its got something to do with Windows...

Has anyone seen this before?

In internet explorer you may want to go to the Tools>Internet Options>connections>Lan Settings and uncheck everything. Sometimes it assumes you are using a proxy server.
Worked for me.

Are you using any firewall progs? I have seen them create these types of problems before. Even when disabled. It took an unistall and a reinstall to fix it. It sounds like it might be a port related issue....

No firewall, and everything in Tools>Internet Options>connections>Lan Settings was unchecked....but like I said..this happens with ANY browser..so would the Internet Options even matter? I doubt that Mozilla or Opera uses those settings, but I could be very wrong.

This is very strange

I found this on Google:

************
I first made a backup of all important data and created and ERD.
I then exported the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinSock
I then deleted the key and rebooted the system.
After boot up I removed TCP/IP and rebooted.
I then reinstalled TCP/IP and rebooted.
IE 5 worked like a charm.
*************

So..I'm going to give this a shot next.
