Greetings Gentlemen,

I have been assigned to connect two offices via IP Office. I have a 406 with a Netscreen 5GT router controlling the lan on one side and I have a Netscreen 5GT on the other end connected via VPN. I have SIP phone connected to the 406 via VPN. Monitor shows me the SIP phone is registered; I can call all the phones on the system from the Sip extension. What I am having a problem with is the Audio. I get the audio 20% of the time. Monitor shows me this:

135832885mS H323Evt: RTP(END): 192.168.1.25/49160 10.10.0.11/3002 CODEC=Alaw64K(4) PKTSZ=160 RFC2833=on AGE=23568 SENT=584 RECV=0 RTdelay=0 jitter=0 loss=0 remotejitter=0 remoteloss=0
135832886mS H323Evt: RTP(END): 192.168.1.25/49154 10.10.0.11/3000 CODEC=Ulaw64K(5) PKTSZ=160 RFC2833=on AGE=45209 SENT=1087 RECV=0 RTdelay=0 jitte

When I can hear the other end, Monitor shows that I received what was sent to the SIP phone.

Has Anybody seen anything like this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks/Quaz

I just tried to bring up an H.323 phone on the other end of the VPN. Monitor tells me the telephone has registered, but doesn't show the type of phone and it never comes up.

do you have a default route or a route for the other IP range in the IPO?

Why is one ALAW and the other ULAW?

Good question. When I was thinking I had a codec issue I hard coded the the sip extension to 729a. I changed the extension to automatic for codec selection and checked the codec offered box.
Now I get this:
390536mS H323Evt: RTP(END): 192.168.1.25/49154 10.10.0.11/3000 CODEC=Ulaw64K(5) PKTSZ=160 RFC2833=on AGE=17264 SENT=854 RECV=0 RTdelay=0 jitter=0 loss=0 remotejitter=0 remoteloss=0
390537mS H323Evt: RTP(END): 192.168.1.25/49152 192.168.1.204/50006 CODEC=Ulaw64K(5) PKTSZ=160 RFC2833=off AGE=21941 SENT=183 RECV=1037 RTdelay

I have a 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 route which sends it to the router gateway. I just put a route in 10.10.0.0/24 route to 192.168.1.1 router gateway. Nothing. The lines above from Monitor tell the story.

Westi, Thank you for your response.

are you making calls from IP to IP?
try IP to digital or analog because it could be your Direct Media Path not working and with digital or analog that gets taken out of the equation

Westi,

I can make calls from the SIP phone to any H323 phones or to analog telephones. I have turned off direct-media-path. it would appear that I have a routing problem. I put the SIP phone on a different Network/Router and pointed it back to the IPO and it came right up with audio. Looks like I have a problem with the first router.

Thanks again, Westi.
