Hi.
My problem is a Epox 8KTA motherboard that doesn't run with any PCI or
ISA graphics card. Not even POST is being finished, no beeps, no error messages.
I already upgraded the boards BIOS and reset it to failure save settings.
There's no other device connected than a floppy drive with boot-floppy.
Nothing was helpful but adding an AGP card to the system. (this is not what I prefere
to do ;-)
Does anyone know something about this strange behaviour?

-Thanks in advance-

Have U got your floppy drive connector 1 pin out?
Set the graphics in the bios to read PCI first?
Disabled any onboard graphics? Martin

Hi Martin.

Thanks for Ur reply. To answere it: yes, yes ,yes.
The "init first" order of the graphics does work properly, when two cards are connected to the system (PCI + AGP). Fortunately (or should I say un...) the 8KTA has no graphics onboard. See, my PCI card (ATI AllInWonder Pro Turbo) was rather expencive, the former PC has become to slow, so I decided to build a new one and wouldn't buy a new AGP graphics because I don't need it.
The ATI card is ok (tested in the old system),in the new PC I tried a noname PCI graphics card and an Elsa Winner 2000, all with the same result.
Any ideas?

I assume you have Win9x/ME.
Try this:
Remove the ATI All-In-Wonder PCI card from your system.
Reinstall the AGP card.
Start Windows in Safe Mode.
Make sure you have the ATI All-In-Wonder PCI drivers installed.
Go to Device Manager and remove all Display adapters.
Restart and go to BIOS setup.
Set VGA BIOS sequence "Init First" to PCI.
Save settings and exit BIOS setup.
Shut down the system before Windows starts to load.
Now install the ATI All-In-Wonder PCI card.
Restart the system. It should detect the new video card and load the drivers.

Let me know if you are still having trouble.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

John

There may be something you have set mistakenly in the bios, try resetting the bios and starting again.
Also start from scratch with the display drivers, make absolutely sure that all are removed and start again.
Last be not least, are all your board drivers loaded correctly, PCI bus master bridge etc these must be installed imediately after a clean install.
Also when you fitted the new board it is advisable to clean install windows so it recognises the differant chipset on the board and correct bus master drivers are loaded, some of these are in windows like the Intel chipset drivers, some you have to load, like the 4in1 Via drivers.
I hope some of this helps Martin

Ebiz1, have you ever resolved this issue? I am having a strange problem with the same mobo and would be interested in your results.
