I was working on a computer yesterday that had no sound. I verified that the speakers worked. I also did a hardware test and the sound works in that (Its a Dell Optiplex gx280)I logged into windows and there are no conflicts in device manager.I just cannot hear any sounds. Mute is not selected. I am stumped. Instead of doing a reimage, Id rather look further into this...any idea?
Thanks
John

Go into the control panel under sound and audio devices and look at the device volume settings. You also want to go under advanced and crank up all the subcomponents and make sure that they are all off mute (except for line in).

If that doesnt work I would poke around the setting in there and do a compare and contrast with a different machine.

I have done all that...unfortunatley i may just have to reimage to save time
Thanks for the advice though!
