I recently upgraded my machine from Windows ME to WIndows 2000 Pro. I have a PC Chips Motherboard, Socket 370, M758LMR. It came with a systems CD that contained Windows 2000 drivers. I updated all the drivers and now everything works but my SOund. I get no sound at all, even though Windows tells me the device is working properly and the drivers are up to date. The sound card in onboard. Hope someone can help.

Hi,
Try the following...
1. Increase the sound volume sliding bar to maximum.
2. Check the sound card is not muted
3. Check the speaker power is on and the indicator light on the speaker confirms it.
4. Check if the speaker sound volume know is kept to max.
Once you get the sound, you can adjust things for sure.
Best of luck !

I had the same problem, although I could hear VERY faint audio in the background so I knew SOMETHING was going thru the board. I had checked all the connections, levels and muting settings, etc., but I still had no real Audio. My Audio SW (C-Media Mixer) has a 4-Speaker option - I selected it and got audio at the correct levels (It uses the LINE IN for the 2nd line out - kinda neat). I then DOUBLE CHECKEDthe connections and found out that my line was going out of LINE IN. I was relieved and felt dumb at the same time. I switched it to line out and everything is gravy. Sometimes it's real simple.

Get rid of the Insmell chip, and go with AMD.

In sounds and multimedia on the audio tab make sure the three drop down lists reference the proper card.
