Networker 6.1 on NT 4.0 server

about 2 weeks ago 1 of the networker clients stopped doing incremental backups, and It runs a full backup every night with this error: No full backups of this save set were found in the media database; performing a full backup

when I used Networker Administrator on server check for index of that client, It gave me error "server tapebackupserver:No save sets were found for client server1"

When I used Networker User on client try to restore some files, It didn't know the required volumes.

Does anyone have some suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks

This points to a defective media database. If NW cannot find an existing full which is mandatory for an incremental or differential backup. You need to correct the problem a.s.a.p.

Suggest to run mmrecov to recover a known good instance of your media db.

BTW - i forgot to mention that you should update to NW 7. This version contains a number of extra mechanisms that will prevent media db problems in general.

Thanks. I will try mmrecov to see if this help.

Do you think that's causes sometimes during a backup, the changer losses the tape label information. This leaves the tape <un-labelled>. Usually we can just re-inventory the tapes and the label comes back, the tape will have 0% compacity. At worst case, the label is gone and we need to re-label the tape ?

Thanks for your help.

This could well be. Such problem has been addressed in NW 7. From the NW 7.0 Release Notes:

Improved Error Handling for Lost Volume Names
The NetWorker software has improved error handling and reporting to the media database that ensures the nsrjb
process correctly updates an inventory after an unsuccessful read label operation. This enhancement allows
the NetWorker software to update a autochanger resource and avoid an infinite loop of subsequent
unsuccessful mounts for the same volume.

You problem could especially be due to this fact if you separate fulls to certain media (customers quite often do) and if such tape has been lost.
