I came across this article and was wondering how to implement this in CF... Any ideas anyone, I think this could be really useful for us.

This is only available in CF 4.5 as the earlier versions could only set response headers and not the actual response code. In 4.5, they added "statuscode" and "statustext" parameters so you could set the response code.
I believe this will do what you want.
