I have an ABIT VP6 mobo dual CPU, a Matrox g200 AGP video card, and an ADAPTEC 2940UW SCSI card.

Windows XP loads beautifully. One catch. I dont get any POST display. I tried all hot keys I know (F11, DEL etc.) NO POST DISPLAY, for SCSI or for mobo.

ANy suggestions out there?

Question: how do you know that "Windows loads beautifully" if you can't see it? Or, do you mean that the computer boots up OK, but that you can't get into BIOS setup?

Hi, Windows boots great. Full features, ran diags, all is OK. This is a second hand machine, and I wonder if there is such a thing as hiding the POST screen from intruders. Don't think so but I'm no expert. Windows tells me there are no IRQ conflicts.

I checked the specs and it said nothing about entering bios, so you would think it is a normal "del" when booting. I'd contact ABIT support and ask them.

Just checking the basics. Did you press the ESC key on initial splash screen? You may be able to see the post that way. It seems like you want to get into the BIOS - Is there any message on boot up before you get to the Windows XP splash screen? This may determine the hot key to get into the bios. If not quick FAQ's or quick call to tech support may do the trick.

From the VP6 user manual downloaded from link:

page 3-1 states: "After the BIOS has achieved the auto-diagnostic and auto-detection operations, it will display the following message:

PRESS DEL TO ENTER SETUP

The message will be displayed for three to five seconds, if you press the <Del> key, you will access the BIOS Setup menu."

I've seen monitors that take awhile to display anything on the screen after a reset. Perhaps this is what is happening in your case. Try hitting the Del key early and often after power-on or a reset.
