OK so i went to load a game (CS:S) and it takes me to the main menu, then suddenly my monitor just goes black, i restart the computer and i hear it boot up and everything but still no video. i tried replacing the the following: video card, hard drive, monitor. I cant seem to figure out what the problem is, anyone help? or do i have to spend money and take it in to be looked at.

try replacing the memory, if something goes wrong with memory you can lose video display

You can't get any display at all? (eg, the POST screen at boot up?). When you hear it boot up - you're sure its not just fans? You may have a dead motherboard, or a bad PSU.

yeah i just tried the memory switch, no dice

and btw, no i get no boot screen

then still think dead mobo or dying PSU most likely - PSU easiest/cheapest to replace first. Could also be dead cpu (or dead mopo & cpu)

This happened to me just last night. I turned off my PC and turned it back on. When I turned it back on I had no video, and the hard drive and DVD player LEDs were on forever. Try resetting the CMOS. Move the jumper... wait 30 seconds... move it back.

frank4d - that's a good idea, which I'd forgotten about.

Start XP in Video safe mode.

So do you get any video when the bootup starts or nothing at all. Video card might be shot. If you replaced the hard drive, does the video card have a special plug that plugs into the hard drive 4 pin power plug?

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

k this i dont know whats the CMOS? and how do i move the jumper. and ceh i get no video ever, its not my video card cuz i tryed another one.
