No Keyboard/Mouse in Windows 2000 Pro. Virus?!!!

Hi,

I posted a thread the day before yesterday about I didn't have keyboard/mouse at the logon window. Finally, I was able to boot into some software to modify my registry, and now I don't see the logon window any more. So, it seems that I could completely load the sytem, with everything being the same as before, except that I still don't have any keyboard/mouse. I even tried to plug in a usb mouse, it was detected and says something like "detected, install driver", but the mouse pointer never showed up. Is this some kind of virus? Is there any anti-virus software that I can run before booting into any operating system? Thanks a lot for your help.

You said the other day you dual booted Linux if you can get online go to

You can do a free online scan of your entire system it should be able to scan the Win partition as well i guess.

If not you will have to get your hands on Norton anti-virus and make the DOS AV boot disks this can scan the HD before Windows loads.

Thanks a lot for your info. I have Norton anti-virus corporate edition, but I don't know how to make the dos av boot disk. Could you elaborate it? Thank you very much.

I don't know with corp addition i'm afraid, the Symantec web site will prob help, i do seem to remember that it will only scan Fat16 or Fat32 volumes.

Thanks for your help. I finally got a copy of the pro version and made those disks. But it didn't find any virus after the scan, so at last I formatted my c drive, and reinstalled the system.
