hi, I have a little problem with solaris 8 platform. After instalation, there are no interfaces up. So I cannot configure the network. What can I do? How can I make interfaces???

Thanks in advance for your help...

In your /etc/netmasks file you mention above, I assume the line:

128.32.0.0 255.255.255.0

is actually commented out (ie begins with a #). If it isn't add a # at the beginning. As far as I know this is just the standard example in the file, and isn't meant for use in a live environment. I'm reacing the end of my (limited) networking knowledge - anyone else out there with any ideas?

ok
you are right, there is a # infront of the 128.32.0.0 255.255.255.0

and it's also written that it's an example. i didn't realize :-(

but infront of the stuff that i typed :
126.101.26.0 255.255.255.0
there is also a #.
i changed it but it still doesn't save my settings

You mean you took out the # at the front of the correct setting and it doesn't save your netmask settings after rebooting again?

yes, exactly.

what do you think about installing solaris 10? Do you think i'll have the same problems???

I've never installed Sol 10, but there seems no harm in trying it if you have the time and opportunity.
