Someone asked about this in the Anti virus forum

The reason is: You are most likley looking at the USA version, AVGfree is and always has been AFIK, only avalible for UK downloads.
Pull the language drop down to United Kingdom (English) and you will see the Free edition link in the main menu.

Note: You will probobly be breaking the terms of the licence if you download it from any other country.

Hmm it seems it is on the USA version as well maybe the restriction is to English speaking countrys.
There is no mention in the current licence.

the actual website for the free edition is quite simply not dependant on where you look on Grisoft's website.

The site is
Computer/Network Technician
CCNA

Steve,

You will probobly be breaking the terms of the licence if you download it from any other country.

Surely not.

I can't see anything in the licence relating to countries (except a legal point about it being subject to Czech Republic law).

The free edition of AVG Antivirus had been removed from the website for some period of time (several weeks, at least), but I see that it's once again available, in an updated version.
