Hi,
I was transfering files between 2 PC's when one of the PCs suddenly went dead. I tried rebooting but nothing happened. So I left the PC until the next day, I tried booting but little happened, lights came on for a second then pc went dead. I thought this could be due to the power supply, so bought a new one. Tried booting again, the computer ran but no display or beeps. I read some forums, where other people had the same problems, and decided it could be the motherboard, so replaced it with a new one. But this made no difference. I have tried taking the memory cards out one, by one, and both, no beeps and no changes. Please could someone help me.
Matt.

Did you do try replacing the RAM, CPU, and video card, disconnect all drives and cards(except the video card), and place the MB on a piece of cardboard?

Sounds like the CPU's bad. You may want to get a new CPU and check the components you replaced. They may still be good.

I tried a different CPU from an old PC, and this time the computer beeps, and the display works. But the computer does not load windows, it just freezes after detecting Drives F and G. Could this be due to the cpu being an older version, or is there still another component faulty? I dont want to splash out £60 on a new one if there are more components needed. Any advice, please.

I take it F & G are CD drives? What OS are you running? If you are running Windows, are you able to start in Safe Mode? How many beeps are you getting?

You have a bad CPU. The older CPU depending on the age may not work with windows again depending on which version you are using. I am enclosing a web site with beep error codes so you can look them up to help diagnose your problem.

Hope this helps.
