NMC for NW 7.3 Java Problem

Hi All

Tried to upgrade a test machine (NW 7.2.1, Win2K SP4) to NW 7.3. This worked fine but I cannot launch the Networker Management Console. There's just a window that says it is searching for the latest updates and this runs endless.
I tried to use a hint to switch off Java updates (Registry)from a previous thread but this did not help.
Dos anybody have a solution for this ?
