nmbd is not running

For some reason nmbd stopped working. SMBD is running. I tried to stop samba and start it but
/etc/samba start stop but nmbd is still not running. What Do I do ?

Take a look at the samba's log files

Have you started nmbd? Its a separate daemon you know...

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
