I set up a ring group (003) on line 31 to ring during the manual "night ring" period. It should ring an aux ringer and a couple of sets in a plant and shouldn't go to voice mail or ring reception. But it still rings reception and goes to voice mail. Can we get this to not ring voice mail/ reception which it rings during the day?

Make sure in line programming that line 31's prime set is none then make sure in the ring group that only the aux and sets you want to ring are only programmed. There is an extra dial set and it defaults to the first DN that is usually the main, recepts DN.
Plus is it VM or AA that you are getting?

I am getting voicemail from reception. A
I tried with the line having a prime and without. It is still ringing at reception.

You probably have line 031 set to answer (Y) in auto attendant. Make sure you don't have line 031 set to answer by AA. That should take care of your problem and it should only ring that group and aux. ringer. Also make sure you have trunk answer set to (Y) for that group in services mode.

Also I'm not sure if it's manual service you want to program. Your thread says you don't want it to ring to aa and receptionist during the day. Where should it ring during the day???? If you want it to ring in group 003 always then you need to program a control set in that group for that group and line.

Go into programming/services/common settings/ control set/show/for lines/show line/ enter 031/enter control set for group 003/press heading/next/sets/show/enter sets in that group.
This control set will now be able to f871 group 003 for night swervice.

If recept phone is programmed to ring line 031 during normal ringing service, it will still ring @ night. Ring groups add DN's to the already ringing lists of phones. They do not, can not remove them.

What do you mean you can not remove them??? Programming/services/ringing service/show/ringing groups/show/show group/003/show/scan/ you then have the option to assign or unassign.......

atdjr123, unless I'm reading his original post wrong, the OP is trying to stop a line from ringing on a DN, the reception, that is probably programed A&R. Ringing Service Groups won't do that.

Yes you can add/remove DNs to ring groups. But as i said above if a line is programmed to A&R or R only at a DN during "normal ringing", it will continue to ring, regardless of whether it is assigned or unassigned to a ring group. Ring groups can only ADD DNs to Normal (day) ringing.

Same thing with AA. If a line is set to be answered by the AA it will always be answered regardless of the Ring Group in operation. Adding the voice mail DN to a ring group will cause all the lines in that group to answered immediately on the first ring.

This is not to add the ringing group to the Vmail. This is so the group can be placed into the night service mode via the control set for that group. I'm not telling him to add the DN for Vmail to the group or the receptionist.

This is his question. So yes removing line 031 from reception/aa and assigning it to ringing group 003 w/ext's for that group/ aux, ringer and trunk answer(Y) will do that. However he needs to assign a control set for that group and line so that it can be placed into night service.

So if he does this and keeps that group in service mode will it not always ring to that group via F871 control set????

See if this post update works...

resolved by removing ringing at reception and keeping the night group. Set up non-vmail sets to ring during the day- the receptionists cordless and others.
