Hi,

Easy solution I am sure but how do you set up a nickname in Outlook so I don;t have to keep typing in the full email address?

Many thanks,

Ig

If you have put the person in you Contacts list, use the nickname for their name and in Options / Email Options / Advanced Options make sure "Automaeic name checking" is checked. Then, when you put a name or partial name in the To: box and LEAVE the To: box, Outlook will check the Contacts list for that person or persons whose first or last name begins with the letters you typed into the To: box. SInce it checks for partial matches, you really don't have to use nicknames. IE: Fr will find Fred.

I was doing that but Outlook ends up looking also in the company directory. So if I have a contact in my contacts called Fred, I still get a Red line as there may be 50 other Fred's in the organisation! Hence wanting to use a nickname. Any further clues?

Thanks in advance.

Ig

The red wavy line is ok. If you finish your e-mail and hit the send button, you will be presented with list of all the fred's to choose from.

But that is my point - I don't want to have to go through all the Freds each time I want to send an email to my mate Fred (for example).

make sure the names you use for your contact list are unique add brackets or an underscore to the front of the name.

Chris.

Indifference will be the downfall of mankind, but who cares?

In your contact list, put your nickname in the "Display As" field.
