I have a router connected to my windows 2000 network I am not familiar with router and have been looking at some of the commands but how do I access the router console screen from my server in order to type the various commands

telnet + router IP address
or
serial to console with a rollover cable.

Get a terminal connector with a rollover cable to COM1 on yuor workstation

Connect the other side to console port on the router

Open Hyperterminal and choose

COM1 in the combo box
then set the session to
Bits per sec 9600
Data bits 8
Parity NONE
Stopbits 1
Flow Control NONE

then connect

If you've never been in there before, and there is a password set, you'll have to come back or research the cisco site for breaking the console into setup

Let us know.
